Dear SAWF Supporter,
I have some sad news and some very positive news.
First the sad news: Due to the bad economic climate & dwindling volunteer participation to take leadership roles in the organization, the Board of Directors at its September 18, 2011 meeting passed a motion to dissolve Shasta Animal Welfare Foundation.
The Positive News: At this same Board meeting a decision was made to start a restricted fund at Haven Humane Society for the purposes of low cost spay & neutering for animals. The new program will offer Spay / Neuters for a non-refundable $25 (this will be available to all Shasta County Residents regardless of income or other means testing).
The restricted fund will be named: Shasta Animal Welfare Foundation Low Cost Spay Neuter Fund
To participate; the client needs to set up an appointment with Haven Humane Society and pay the non-refundable $25.
The fund will pick up the difference between the true cost of the surgery and the client fee.
If the client fails to show up for their appointment, the $25 will be rotated back into the fund.
Our Feral Cat TNR Team will now have the ability to take cats to Haven’s Feral Cat Clinic and the fund will pick up the cost of the surgery, this will simplify the process we previously had of reimbursements.
SAWF’s initial contribution to the fund is $6,000, we will be making another contribution of approximately $7,000 when we accomplish the process of dissolution with the State of California.
Supporters of SAWF and others can also make a tax deductible contribution directly to the Shasta Animal Welfare Foundation Low Cost Spay Neuter Fund by contacting Haven Humane Society at 530-241-1653
I am proud of everyone who has helped SAWF with the process of transforming Shasta County in to a No Kill Animal community, by keeping this fund Alive, I believe Shasta County will someday achieve this ultimate goal.
Sincerely,
Susan Ellison
CEO Shasta Animal Welfare Foundation
